Introduction to University

Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), founded in 1896, is a national key university directly under the administration of China's Ministry of Education. As one of China's top ten research-intensive universities and a member of the C9 League—China's equivalent of the Ivy League—it operates as a comprehensive research university, encompassing 11 major disciplinary categories, including science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, humanities, law, philosophy, art, education, and interdisciplinary studies. Nearly 4,000 international students from over 130 countries and regions are currently pursuing their studies at XJTU. In 2013, the university was designated by China's Ministry of Education as a “Demonstration Base for International Education”. In 2024, XJTU achieved the highest rating of Class A+ in the re-certification of higher education quality for international students in China. In the 2025 Shanghai Ranking’s Academic Ranking of Chinese Universities, XJTU secured the 10th position.

Faculty Info	The University currently employs 6,754 full-time staff members, including 3,813 full-time faculty. Among the faculty, 574 selections have been made into major national talent programs such as academicians and Distinguished Young Scholars. The University is home to 52 national innovation teams, 430 experts who have made outstanding contributions to the country and are recipients of the State Council Special Allowance, and 11 National Teaching Masters.

Student Benefits	The University offers more than 200 student clubs and organizations, self-directed online academic resources, work-study opportunities, a wide range of internship and practical training programs, scholarships for international students, immersive field trips highlighting China’s rich history and culture, festive care activities, comprehensive mental health education and counseling services, as well as employment and entrepreneurship guidance.

Xi’an Jiaotong University has achieved remarkable accomplishments in education and research. A total of 61 undergraduate programs have been selected as national First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction Sites, and the University has received 100 National Teaching Achievement Awards. It is home to 12 pilot programs of the Ministry of Education’s Virtual Teaching and Research Offices, 129 national First-Class Undergraduate Courses, 8 national teaching (talent cultivation) bases, 12 national experimental teaching demonstration centers (including virtual simulation centers), and 9 national teaching teams. The University has been recognized with 27 National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Awards and 46 nomination awards. According to the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) data released in May 2025, 19 disciplines rank among the global top 1%, 6 among the top 0.1‰, and Engineering ranks among the global top 0.01%, positioned 8th worldwide. As one of the first universities included in the national “Project 211” and “Project 985,” Xi’an Jiaotong University was selected as an A-class university in the national “Double First-Class” initiative in 2017 and listed again in the second round of the “Double First-Class” construction in 2022, with 8 national-level and 12 provincial-level “Double First-Class” disciplines. 2. International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship

3. XJTU International Undergraduate Freshman Scholarship

The Scholarship supports candidates who apply for and are admitted to non-medical undergraduate programs at XJTU. Applicants can submit their applications directly through the XJTU International Student Online Application System. The scholarship coverage is as follows: Highest Honor Scholarship (100% tuition waiver), First Class Scholarship (75% tuition waiver), Second Class Scholarship (50% tuition waiver), Third Class Scholarship (25% tuition waiver), Merit Scholarship (10%

tuition waiver). The scholarship covers the first year of undergraduate study. The following academic year shall be comprehensively evaluated according to the student's academic performance in the university.

4. Xi’an City Government Belt and Road Scholarship

Applicants should submit their applications through the Xi’an Jiaotong University International Student Application System. The scholarship applies to the first year of the degree program.
