Introduction to University

Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) is an international joint venture university founded by Xi’an Jiaotong University in China and the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. As an independent Sino-foreign cooperative university, it captures the essence of both prestigious parent universities and is the first and only one of its kind approved by the Ministry of Education in China. We combine the best of east and west to offer you a unique educational experience that prepares you to be a future leader. Our location in Suzhou Industrial Park, China’s equivalent of Silicon Valley and a hub of global innovation, means our students have numerous internship opportunities and access to job positions. All our degree programmes are taught 100 percent in English, with a focus on critical thinking and independent learning – key skills needed in the workplace. At XJTLU you will be taught how to acquire and create new knowledge and apply it to real-world scenarios. By May 2020, our global community of more than 17,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students (around 3,500 of whom are studying at the University of Liverpool through the 2+2 programme), and over 920 academic staff from 50 countries/rigions is continually growing, offering you the chance to make connections with people from across the world. Faculty InfoXJTLU upholds the same high standards as world-famous universities in hiring academic staff members. XJTLU cooperates with international headhunting companies to hire top academic talent from all over the world. As of September 2025, there are around 1,800 teaching and research staff of various types, including about 1,300 full-time academic staff. All subject staff have to hold a doctorate degree from a well-known university and have rich teaching and research experience.

  • 马来西亚华文独立中学高中统考（UEC） ：

大一入学：至少5门B6以上；申请理工科专业还需数学及物理达到B4以上；

大二入学： 5门课程（剔除马来语以及簿记等科目），至少一门A2以上，其他均为B3 以上，需要高中毕业证书

  • 马来西亚高级教育文凭（STPM）：

大二入学：5门课程中至少三门B以上，英文成绩要求：SPM1119科目成绩C以上；

  • A-level：

大二入学：BBB

  • 专科文凭Diploma：

需要结合学生高中背景综合评价

  • 马来西亚教育文凭（SPM）：

不接受直接入学，需要读预科

  • IGCSE：

AS level成绩BBB可以申请大一入学

  • O-level:

不接受直接入学，需要读预科

语言水平证明:

大一入学:

学术类雅思 5.0 以上(各项得分不得低于4.5) 或 托福iBT 62 以上；或UEC英文科目B4以上；

大二入学:

学术类雅思6.5 以上(各项得分不得低于5.5)或托福iBT 90 以上；

其他要求:

  • 申请人需要提交个人陈述（无字数限制）；
  • 建筑学，数字媒体艺术，广播电视学，影视摄影与制作需提交作品集以及参加院系专业面试；

Academic requirements (may list the adopted subjects of each college)

  • Unified Examination Certificate (UEC)

Y1 entry：

a minimum of 5 subjects with at least grade B6 and at least grade B4 in Math/Physics for our Engineering/Science programmes

Y2 entry：

a minimum of 5 subjects with A2 in 1 subject and B3 in 5 subjects, excluding Bahasa Malay and Book Keeping & Commerce, plus High school Graduation certificate

  • STPM

Y2 entry：Grade B in 3 of the 5 subjects. English proficiency: SPM 1119 (UCLES board) English grade C

  • A-level

Y2 entry：BBB

  • Diploma

Could be considered with high school background

  • SPM

Need to do foundation programme, then apply for Y2 entry.

  • IGCSE

AS Level could be considered for Y1 entry.

  • O-level

Need to do foundation programme, then apply for Y2 entry.

Language Proficiency Certificate：

Year 1 entry:

IELTS 5.0 (min 4.5 in all sections) / TOEFL 62 (iBT); or UEC English B4+;

IELTS 6.5 (min 5.5 in all sections)/ TOEFL 90 (iBT)

Other requirements：

  • Personal Statement is needed for all applicant (no word count limit);
  • BEng Architecture, BA Filmmaking, BA TV Production & BA Digital Media Arts: require a digital copy portfolio review and an interview with members of Departments of Architecture or School of Film and Television Art, which can be conducted in person or via the Internet.

All Malaysian students who submit an online application and accept their conditional or unconditional offer by 15th April 2026 will automatically qualify for a RMB 9,300 early bird discount.

Entry Scholarship:

We offer an entry scholarship of up to RMB 93,000 (100% and 10-50% of the tuition fee) per year for Malaysian students, based on academic excellence.
