Established in 1902, it is an international comprehensive university.
Located in Xi'an, the starting point of the Silk Road and a historical and cultural ancient city.
It is a university included in the national "Double First-Class" initiative and the "211 Project", and ranks among the top 50 universities in Chinese mainland.
Since 1965, it has been admitting international students. Up to now, more than 20,000 students from over 80 countries and regions have come to study here.
It is honored as the "Mother of China's Petroleum Talents", "The Cradle of Economists" and "The Cradle of Writers".

Faculty Info | NWU has over 3100 faculty and staff, including 4 academicians of The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), 5 double appointed academicians (professors), 1 academician of the International Institute of the History of Science, 17 selected scholars of the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program", 12 recipients of the National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars of China, 11 recipients of the National Science Foundation for Excellent Young Scholars of China. 17 have been selected by China's National "Ten Million Talents Project", 4 have been selected by China's National Outstanding Teachers, 25 have been selected by the New Century Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education, and 6 have been selected by the Ministry of Science and Technology as "Young and middle-aged Leading Talents in Scientific and Technological Innovation". Chinese Academy of Sciences academicians Zhang Guowei, Shu Degan, Zhang Hongfu, Zhao Guochun, famous historian, educationalist, thinker Zhang Qizhi, distinguished contemporary Chinese writer Jia Pingwa and a group of well-known experts and scholars to teach in the school. |
