Introduction to University
1. University Establishment Position and Historical Evolution: The university is one of the first batch of national "Double First-Class" construction universities and a key construction university of high-level universities in Guangdong Province. It is jointly established by the People's Government of Guangdong Province, the Ministry of Education, and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It originated from the Guangdong Specialized School of Traditional Chinese Medicine founded in 1924, and was established as Guangzhou College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1956 with the approval of the State Council, being one of the first four higher-level traditional Chinese medicine undergraduate colleges in New China. It was officially renamed Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1995.
2. University Organizational Structure: The university has 25 administrative and party management departments, 15 secondary colleges, 13 clinical medical colleges, 19 research institutions, and 6 auxiliary administrative departments.
3. Talent Cultivation System: The university offers 23 undergraduate programs, has 7 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, 6 master's professional degree authorization categories, 3 doctoral first-level discipline authorization points, 1 doctoral professional degree authorization category, and 3 postdoctoral research stations. It has 8 national-level and 11 provincial-level first-class undergraduate professional construction points, being one of the first batch of pilot universities for the Excellence Doctor (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Education Training Program in China.
