Introduction to University

Guangdong University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as GUST), established in 2003, is a general undergraduate university under the approval of Chinese Ministry of Education. Located in Dongguan, a significant city of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, GUST has two campuses as Nancheng Campus and Songshan Lake Campus with a total coverage over 134 hectares. At present, the total student enrollment of GUST is 35,000 and the number of teachers is over 1,700. GUST strives to conduct coordinated development of various disciplines as Engineering, Management, Economics, Literature, Art, etc. It consists of six schools and five colleges, which are School of Finance and Economics, School of Management, School of Computer Science, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, School of Foreign Languages, School of Art Design, College of General Education, College of Marxism, College of International Education, College of Continuing Education as well as College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Faculty Info	The University employs nearly 1,945 full-time faculty members. Over 93% hold a master’s degree or higher, including 550 PhD holders and 150 supervisors qualified to guide doctoral and master’s students.

Honours & Recognition： Over more than 20 years of development, the University has steadily strengthened its overall capacity, with its reputation and social influence continuing to grow. It has received numerous national and provincial honours, including Outstanding Private Higher Education Institution in China, National Advanced Research Institution, National Advanced Social Sciences Organisation, and Outstanding Contributor to 40 Years of Private Education in Guangdong Province. In 2021, the University was selected as a Guangdong Provincial Master’s Degree Awarding Institution under Development and was approved to establish a Provincial Doctoral Workstation. In 2023, it was recognised as a Provincial Demonstration University for Party Building and selected as one of the First Batch of National Healthy Campus Initiative Institutions. In 2024, the University received multiple distinctions, including the China Industry–University–Research Cooperation Promotion Award, Top 100 Institutions for Industry–Education Integration in China, Outstanding Member Institution of the China Association for Non-Government Education, and Guangdong Province’s Most Influential Undergraduate Universities Online.
