Wuhan Technology and Business University, founded in 2002, is a full-time undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. After 20 years of leapfrog development, its comprehensive strength ranks among the top of similar universities in China and has won the title of “China’s Model University for Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform” and “2018 China’s University with Typical Experience for Innovation and Entrepreneurship” by the Ministry of Education. It has become Chinese training bases for the 45th and 46th World Skills Competition, a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), one of the First Batch of Innovation Capacity Enhancement Program for Higher Education Institutions in Hubei Province (“2011 Program”), a pilot undergraduate university for transformation and development of Hubei Province, a civilized campus in Hubei Province, etc.

The university is located in Huangjiahu University Town, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, adjacent to Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone and Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone. It is a key development area of scientific research and education, ecological experience and leisure tourism in Wuhan City, with unparalleled advantages in transportation, environment and integration of production, learning and research. The university has set up 12 colleges and 1 department, and created practical professional clusters such as computer electronic information engineering, environmental and biological engineering, modern business, and cultural creativity, including 47 undergraduate majors with more than 17,000 students.The university covers an area of 835,000 square feet and the dormitories covers an area of 370,500 square meters. All kinds of advanced and complete facilities are provided in the university. The teaching infrastructure is excellent, and the value of teaching and scientific research instruments per student, the number of seats in multimedia classrooms and speech laboratories, and the number of teaching computers rank among the top of similar colleges and universities in China. It has built a first-class large-scale comprehensive experimental center and library with a collection of 1.618 million paper books and 1.08 million e-books as of December 31, 2021. The total number of books is 2.7 million.The apartment-style dormitories are equipped with air conditioning and 24-hour hot water system.

In the past three years, the university has hosted to complete 2 key projects in China’s 12th Five-Year Plan for Educational Sciences and 25 provincial educational reform projects. Guided by the regional economic and social development and the individual development needs of students, it has formulated a distinctive practical talent training plan, strengthened the construction of core courses, built a step-by-step practical teaching system of “basic level, comprehensive level and innovative level”, and formed a talent training mode of “platform + module”. 4 courses of the university have been recognized as national first-class undergraduate courses; 12 courses have been identified as provincial first-class undergraduate courses; 4 teaching achievements have won Hubei Province University Teaching Achievement Award.

The university has set up a college of innovation and entrepreneurship education to build a platform for college students innovation and entrepreneurship practice, established a special innovation and entrepreneurship fund to support students’ innovation and entrepreneurship projects, built up innovation credits to recognize students’ achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship, and founded an innovation and entrepreneurship base for college students on campus to incubate more mature projects. Meanwhile, it has constructed a new mode of entrepreneurship and innovation education to create a good ecology of entrepreneurship and innovation and to implement three-dimensional drive, that is: with professional cluster and innovation experimental class as demonstration, drive the popularization of entrepreneurship and innovation education, and then promote the innovation of talent training modes; With a scientific research innovation platform as the carrier, drive the achievements in entrepreneurship and innovation education, and then promote applied technology research and innovation; With social demand as guidance, drive the industrialization of entrepreneurship and innovation achievements, and then serve the local economic and social development. In recent years, the university has hosted 552 scientific research projects, including 11 national projects such as National Natural Science Foundation Project and National Social Science Foundation Project, more than 60 provincial and ministerial projects such as Humanities and Social Sciences Project of Ministry of Education, Natural Science Foundation Project of Hubei Province and Social Science Foundation Project of Hubei Province, and undertaken over 100 social service projects. It has won more than 60 scientific research awards such as Science and Technology Progress Award of Hubei Province and Development Research Award of Ministry of Commerce. It has also published 85 academic works and more than 2,600 papers, including more than 400 papers retrieved by SSCI and SCI. Furthermore, it has successfully applied more than 180 national patents. 

The technology of “Powdered activated carbon membrane bioreactor and macroporous denitrification resin for deep treatment” of the university has been identified as “international leading level” by the academician expert group, and this technology has been widely used in more than 50 sewage treatment projects in more than 10 provinces and cities such as Zhejiang Province, Jiangsu Province, Sichuan Province, Chongqing City, Hubei Province, Hunan Province, Hebei Province, Henan Province, Guangdong Province, and Shandong Province, among which the scale of surface water IV upgrading and reconstruction project of Zhejiang Shengxin Sewage Treatment Plant reaches 225,000 tons/day, obtaining a good social effect and high praise; “Modern Logistics and Commerce Collaborative Innovation Center of Hubei Province” was approved as the first batch of Innovation Ability Improvement Plan of Colleges and Universities in Hubei Province (Hubei 2011 Plan), and became the “Smart City Construction Demonstration Project” of Wuhan City. The improvement of scientific research and application innovation ability strongly supports the talent cultivation.

The university, currently has signed inter-university cooperation and exchange agreements with more than 30 universities from 13 countries (regions) such as the United Kingdom, Singapore, the United States, Australia, South Korea, Germany, and France, established a variety of cooperative training modes such as “segmented training and mutual recognition of credits”, and provided students with various types of academic programs such as “2+2 and 3+1” double undergraduate courses at home and abroad, “2+1+1, 2+2, and 3+1” for junior college education upgrading to undergraduate education and “3+1+1, 4+1, and 4+2” for undergraduate education upgrading to postgraduate education, as well as various non-academic programs such as summer camps, paid-internships and semester exchanges, and built up a “multi-level, multi-formed and wide-ranging” overseas exchange project platform. 

For international students in China, the university provides degree education programs taught in Chinese, and non-degree education programs such as short-term courses of Chinese language and culture and various study tours, and has received more than 150 international students in China.

The university has been awarded the title of “Training Demonstration Base of Chinese Dragon and Lion Dance Sports Association”, “National Cheerleading Experimental University” and “National Cheerleading Demonstration Window University” by General Administration of Sport of China, and Chenxing Cheerleading Club has been awarded as “National Cheerleading Five-star Club” (the only one club in private colleges and universities in China); “Deng Li Class” special education activity won the Second Prize for Outstanding Achievements in the Construction of Campus Culture in colleges and universities of Hubei Province; It has made outstanding achievements in the campaign of “National Civilized City” in Wuhan City, and was evaluated as “Advanced Unit” in its creation work.
