Achievements：

Over the 125 years of its history, SJTU has educated more than 400,000 talents for the country and the world, including Jiang Zemin, a former president of China, and Tsien Hsue-shen, China's "Father of Space Science." Other famous SJTU scholars include Wu Wenjun, a great master of mathematics and winner of the first National Supreme Award for Science and Technology, as well as Wang Zhenyi, winner of the Kettering Prize for cancer research. Over 200 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering are SJTU alumni.

SJTU created many "firsts" in the history of China's modern development: the earliest internal combustion engine, the earliest electric motor, the earliest Chinese typewriter,  the first ship their shipyard, the first atomic submarine, the first ship hovercraft, first hydrofoil, independent design of the first generation of fighter jets, the first rocket, the first man-made satellite, the first heart mitral valve separation technique, the first successful transplantation in orthotopic liver surgery, the first successful rescue of large area burn patients surgery, the first university of translation publishing institutions embodies the painstaking wisdom of sjTU teachers, students and alumni.  A number of young alumni are already making their mark in various industries around the world.

Chinese language certificate. Provide at least one of the following materials: 

(a) HSK certificate. (HSK level 5 ≥ 200 scores, with Writing ≥ 60 scores or HSK level 6 ≥180 scores, with Writing ≥ 60 scores ); 

(b) Proof of Chinese native speaker (should be approved by SJTU); 

(c) Application Form For One Year of Chinese Language Courses (only for conditional admission).

English language certificate. Provide at least one of the following materials: 

(a) TOEFL score (total score ≥ 80, with Writing ≥ 20 ), code:D070; 

(b) IELTS score (total score ≥ 5.5, with Writing ≥ 5.5); 

(c) Others (e.g. Proof of English native speaker, Certificate of at least 3 years of full-time academic study taught in English and etc.)).

Excellent applicants will have the opportunity to be awarded different kinds of scholarships, such as the Chinese Government Scholarship, Shanghai Government Scholarship, SJTU Scholarship, International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (Confucius Institute Scholarship), and others.

1. Students applying for CSC Scholarship（Chinese Government Scholarship）should directly contact the local Chinese Embassy or Consulate. For specific application times and requirements, please refer to the information published by the local Chinese embassy or consulate. When completing the scholarship application form, the applicant should select Shanghai Jiao Tong University as the priority. 
2. Students applying for Shanghai Government Scholarship and SJTU Scholarship can click the option “Apply for scholarship” when completing SJTU’s online application form. The contents of the scholarship are as followed:

   First-Class Scholarship	Period：According to length of schooling. Tuition waiver; Provides insurance, accommodation subsidy and living allowance.    Third-Class Scholarship	Period：According to length of schooling. Provides insurance and accommodation subsidy.
