Introduction to University
Jimei University (JMU), one of the key universities located in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, is a “Double First-Class” Construction university in Fujian. It is jointly constructed by the Ministry of Transport，the Ministry of Natural Resources，the Fujian Provincial Government and the Xiamen Municipal Government. The university started with the Teacher's Department of Jimei School founded in 1918 by the famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader, Chen Jiageng (Tan Kah-Kee), and the Fisheries Department、Business Department of Jimei School founded in 1920. It has a history of 106 years. Its motto “Sincerity and Perseverance” is a precious spiritual heritage handed down by Tan Kah Kee, It has formed the characteristics and advantages of marine-oriented disciplines such as navigation and fishery, which has undergone a long and glorious history and enjoys great fame far and wide.

| Facilities | : | Jimei University covers an area of about 2344 mu with a floor space of over 1,030,000 square meters. In 2009, its new campus architecture group was awarded as one of “China's Top 100 Construction Projects” over the last 60 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), making it the only awarded university project in China. The University has a 10 Gigabit high-speed campus network, and the library currently has a collection of over 3.41 million paper documents, nearly a thousand Chinese and foreign paper publications, over 14 million e-books, and over 30000 electronic journals, import 65 Chinese and foreign language databases and 5 self- built characteristic databases. The university currently has 1 national key laboratory (co -built), 2 national and local joint engineering research centers, 19 provincial (ministerial) level scientific research and innovation platforms 、humanities and social science research bases, 5 provincial collaborative innovation centers, 2 provincial new “think tanks” of university features, 21 provincial university innovation platforms/research bases, and 10 provincial university science and technology innovation teams. As an important base for cultivating advanced maritime talents in China, the university has the world's largest teaching and internship ship, the "Yude" ship, with a total carrying capacity of 64000 tons. |

Achievements：JMU puts much emphasis on its international exchange and cooperation program. It has carried out a wide range of academic exchange and research cooperation with more than 100 universities and research institutions in more than 20 countries including the United States, Canada, Australia, Britain, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, and Singapore.
Features：Jimei university has formed a complete educational system from preparatory courses to degree programs including bachelor’s, master's and doctor’s degrees. The hallmarks of these degrees are majors such as Nautical Navigation, Marine Engineering and Fisheries.

Language Proficiency Certificate:
1. Both Undergraduates、Postgraduates and Doctoral students of our university mainly adopt Chinese teaching. Applicants for programs taught in Chinese should achieve International Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) band 4 or above. Applicants who have finished their highest diploma completely in Chinese are exempted from proof of Chinese Language Proficiency Test, but they must present a medium-of-instruction certificate.
2. Doctoral students can be taught in English（Except Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering）. Applicants for programs taught in English should have either (a) a TOEFL score of 80 or above, (b) an IELTS score of 6.0 or above, (c) other equivalent certificate of English proficiency. Native English speakers are exempted.

Accommodation: The dorm building for international student is in the main campus area with beautiful surroundings and easy access. The rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with furniture. There is a bathroom in every bedroom where hot water is available.
