Achievements：

Huaqiao University (HQU) is directly under the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. It was listed as one of China's Prioritized Fostered Universities by Chinese Central Government. Steady progress has been made in its research strength, with 41 state or provincial key disciplines and 17 provincial peak and plateau disciplines, among which Engineering，Chemistry ranks among the top 5‰, Material Science, Computer Science rank among the top 1% in ESI (Essential Science Indicators).

In December 2017, 16 first-level disciplines were listed in the Assessments of National Academic Disciplines released by the Ministry of Education. In 2018, the university ranked 28th in the comprehensive universities list of Shanghai Ranking's Best Chinese Universities Ranking 2018 and 86th among its general list. Shanghai Ranking's Best Chinese Universities Ranking 2018 includes 4,999 disciplines from 460 universities in the Chinese mainland, among which 93 are first-level disciplines. Compared with 19 disciplines in 2017, 20 of HQU have been listed in 2018, which ranked 83rd among the list. In 2018, the university was selected into the construction plan of first-class universities and first-class disciplines (also named as Double First-Class Initiative) of Fujian Province.

Academic requirements (may list the adopted subjects of each college)

I.  Eligibility

Applicants must be Malaysian citizens under the age of 28,  with a complete senior secondary school diploma (including Chinese independent secondary schools and national secondary schools) or an equivalent, with clean criminal record, be in good health, abide by Chinese laws and regulations and those of Huaqiao University.

II.  Application types and standards

1. Undergraduate Program (except for Chinese Language and Culture Education, Chinese Languge)

(1) Recommended by secondary school principals

Students with excellent grades in high school (top 25% ) or special talents, if recommended by high school principals, can apply for undergraduate programs of Huaqiao University with high school transcripts and award certificates.

（2）Apply with UEC scores

For Science and engineering, literature and commerce:

With the total scores of Chinese language,  English Language, Mathematics (or Advanced Mathematics) and other two subjects being no more than 25 points (including 25 points).

For technical majors (physical education, music, dance, art design):

With the total scores of Chinese Language, English Language, and Mathematics (or Advanced Mathematics) no more than 20 points (including 20 points). The relevant performance certificate should be provided.

（3）Apply with other examination scores

For students applying with STPM, A-level and other types of diploma examination scores, please refer to the corresponding scores of UEC.

2. University Preparatory Programs

HQU offers Malaysian secondary school graduates with preparatory programs. Students whose UEC/STPM/A-level scores do not reach the requirements for undergraduate programs, or students taking part in SPM/O-level examinations can apply for the preparatory programs. Students with good preparatory programs performance in preparatory courses will be admitted to undergraduate programs of Huaqiao University.

Preparatory programs include liberal arts class and science class.

(1) Spring semester preparatory program (length of study: half a year, from March to July)

Score requirements: scores of UEC related five subjects being 26-35 points, or SPM score no less than C.

(2) Fall semester preparatory program (length of study: one year, from September to July)

Preparatory Class A: scores of UEC related five subjects being 36-40 points, or SPM score no less than D.

Preparatory Class B: scores of UEC related five subjects being no less than 43 points, or SPM score no less than E.

Preparatory class A students with good academic performance during the preparatory period can be admitted to the undergraduate programs of Huaqiao University.

Preparatory class B students with good academic performance during the preparatory period can be admitted to preparatory class A; students with excellent performance can can be admitted to the undergraduate programs of Huaqiao University.

 

Language Proficiency Certificate：

Students of Sekolah Tinggi Persendirian Cina are exempted from HSK.

Students of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan or Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan should meet the following requirements:

HSK Level 4 or above for Science majors;

HSK Level 5 or above for Arts majors.

Tuition (RMB/person/academic year)

 

Scholarships and Grants: Huaqiao University has formed a complete system of scholarships, loans and grants for students. Students can apply for various scholarships and grants according to their own situations. Students with outstanding academic performance can apply for school-level and college-level scholarships which cover 50% students. Scholarships specially for overseas students include "Wang Bincheng Scholarship for Outstanding Chinese Overseas Students" and "Huang Zhongxian Scholarship for Overseas Chinese Students and Overseas Students"  with a maximum level of 5,000 RMB per students.

 

Accommodation fees  (RMB/person/academic year)

 

Living expenses:  approximately 1500 RMB per month ( it varies from students to students).

Career paths in China after graduation: Undergraduate students can continue to join postgraduate programs of Huaqiao University. Students can also work in various companies that meet the qualification of work visa in China. Huaqiao University also provides students with a variety of employment recruitment seminars.

Over 50% Malaysia students of Huqiao University will be successfully granted with scholarships. The main scholarships that Malaysian students can apply in Huaqiao University are as follows. Other scholarships that are available for all students are not listed here.
