Introduction to University

Chengdu University was officially established with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China in 1978, but with the history of school running for one hundred years. It is a university jointly established by Sichuan Province and Chengdu City, and a key comprehensive university supported by Chengdu, a national central city. It is the site of the Athletes’ Village for the 2021 Chengdu FIFU World University Games. The University covers a construction area of 738,300 square meters, of which 335,400 square meters are used for teaching, scientific research and administrative offices. The total value of teaching and research equipment amounts up to RMB 256 million. The library covers an area of 48,000 square meters and has more than 5,000 reading seats, with a total collection of 2.2668 million paper books and more than 40,000 electronic periodicals.

Chengdu University currently has more than 24,000 full-time students (including 1,394 graduate students and 694 international students). In 2020, there are 694 international students (including 139 postgraduates, 355 undergraduates, and 200 short-term non-degree students). The University has launched five Sino-foreign cooperative projects at the undergraduate and diploma levels and trained a total of 2,163 students, with 924 students studying in the projects. It has carried out 40 multi-level overseas joint training programs at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels and 42 overseas inter-university exchange programs, with a total of nearly 1,000 students.
