Jilin University is a comprehensive national key university under the direct jurisdiction of China’s Ministry of Education. It ranks top ten nationwide. It was founded in 1946 and was listed as national key university in 1960. In 1984, it became one of the first 22 universities that established graduate schools. I. Chinese Government Scholarship

1. Bilateral Program of the Chinese Government Scholarship at Jilin University (Type A)

Application Requirements (Including grades requirements):

1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with good physical and mental health;

2) In terms of educational background and age, applicants must:

l be an academically outstanding holder of high school diploma under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs;

l be an academically outstanding holder of a bachelor’s degree under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs;

l be an academically outstanding holder of a master’s degree under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs;

l be a holder of high school diploma or above under the age of 45 when applying for general advanced students’ programs;

l be a master’s degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for senior advanced students’ programs.

2)     For other specific conditions, please consult the international student dispatching department of your home country.

 

Scholarship Coverage: Application fee and tuition fee, stipends in China, free on-campus accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance.

 

Way to Apply:

Applicants should apply to the international student dispatching department of their home country (usually the office of educational and cultural affairs of Chinese diplomatic missions) within a specified period, generally from early January to April. For details, please consult the international student dispatching department of your home country.

 

2. Jilin University Chinese Government Scholarship “University Graduate” Program （Type B）

Application Requirements (Including grades requirements):

1) Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health both mentally and physically.

 

2) In terms of age, education, and language requirements, applicants must：

l be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs;

l be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs;

l have acquired the Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 4 when applying for Chinese- taught master’s or doctoral programs;

l meet the admission requirements of the applied universities in terms of academic ability, language proficiency and other relevant criteria.

 

3) In principle, the applicants should be students from abroad, but outstanding fresh bachelor graduates and master graduates are also recommended for the program.

 

Scholarship Coverage: Tuition fees, on-campus apartment accommodation, living expenses and comprehensive medical insurance are covered during the applicant’s study in China.

II. International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship

Application Requirements (Including grades requirements):

l Non-Chinese citizens; 

l Friendly to China; having no criminal record; abiding by the laws and regulations of Chinese government and rules and regulations of host institutions;

l In good physical and mental conditions, with good academic performance and conduct; 

l Aspiring to work in the Chinese language education and related fields;

l Aged between16 and 35 (as of 1 September, 2023), with the special allowance for the age limit of 45 for applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers and that of 25 for undergraduate student applicants.

 

1. Chinese Language Teacher Programs

1) Scholarship for Master’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL)

The program commences in September 2023 and provides scholarship for a maximum of two academic years. Applicants shall hold a bachelor’s degree and have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK Test (Level 5) as well as 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level). Priority will be given to applicants who may provide a work contract with a teaching institution with which they will work upon completing their studies in China or a written proof to the same effect.

 

2) Scholarship for One-Academic-Year Study The program commences in September 2023 and provides scholarship for a maximum of 11 months. International students who have benefited from similar scholarships are not eligible.

This type of scholarship is classified into three subtypes:

l TCSOL (Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) Applicants shall have a minimum score of 270 on HSK Test (Level 3) and an HSKK test score is required.

l Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy Applicants shall have a minimum score of 180 on HSK Test (Level 4) and 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level).

l Chinese Language Study Applicants shall have a minimum score of 210 on HSK Test (Level 3). Priority will be given to applicants who provide an HSKK test score.

 

3) Scholarship for One-Semester Study

The program commences either in September 2023 or March 2024 and provides scholarship for a maximum of 5 months. Applicants holding X1 or X2 visas are not eligible.

This type of scholarship is classified into two subtypes:

l TCSOL, Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy Applicants shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK Test (Level 3) and an HSKK test score is required.

l Chinese Tradition Medicine, Taiji Culture Applicants shall have HSK test score and priority will be given to applicants who also provide an HSKK test score.

 

4) Scholarship for Four-week Chinese Study

The program commences in July or December 2023 and provides scholarship for a maximum of four weeks. Applicants holding the X1 or X2 visas are not eligible. Chinese Language Study, Chinese Traditional Medicine, Taiji Culture, Chinese Language + Chinese Family Experience An HSK test score is required. Recommending institutions can organize group application (with 10-15 participants per group). They shall contact host institutions so as to confirm study plans and submit the plans to CLEC before applying for review and approval.

 

Scholarship Coverage: International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship provides full coverage on tuition fee, accommodation fee, stipend (four-week study students are excluded) and comprehensive medical insurance expenses.

Please log on to search for recommending institutions and host institutions, upload application materials online, track the application progress, comments and results. Scholarship holders need to confirm with the host institutions to go through the procedures necessary for studying in China, print out the online scholarship certificate, and register at the host institutions on the designated date and time as per the letter of admission.

 

 

2. Scholarship for Online Programs

1) Scholarship for One-Academic-Year Online Chinese Language Study This program commences in September or March each year. A general Chinese proficiency test score of 180 in HSK (Level 3) is required, and HSKK scores are preferred.

 

2) Scholarship for One-Semester Online Chinese Language Study This program commences in September or March each year. Generally, applicants must have an HSK score (no specific requirements for level or score).

 

3) Scholarship for Special Online Study Program
